The long version is that founder Jewelie Randall likes to make things. As an herbalist, the things she makes are plant based, local, organic and healing.

She began making herbal products when she had her first baby and needed something for her baby girl's skinned knees, diaper rash and all of the little boo boo's of childhood. This path involved a second daughter and a man in her life that was prone to skin injury. Being a mechanic and welder, he was often cut, scraped, and burned. Jewelie improved her signature product, the magical healing balm, to heal most anything.

She is often heard saying that if hers is a life of service (and it is), she needs to reach more people with herbalism and to do that her product line needs to be as her friends would say "less hippie dippie".

As the years passed she created products that her family & friends needed or wanted and as she refined her process she took the leap to form io herbal alchemy in early 2004 as a way to modernize and bring her products to the present.

In late 2006 a storefront was opened. In the fall of 2007 io’s storefront became Flora, a new name along with an expanded vision; a modern botanical boutique carrying not only the io herbal alchemy line but also gifts, cards and scents made from and inspired by the natural world.

We have grown and expanded slowly, adding one line and one member of our team individually, to create a space and selection that is beautiful and inviting.
